Peg Corwin's insight:

How to curate the work of others professionally and ethically:

- "Draw from a variety of sources
- Prominently link to the original source
- Avoid “nofollow” links
- Quote sparingly
- Insert your own point of view
- Fill in the gaps
- Use thumbnail images
- Give readers the option to close an iFrame or share bar
- Add a new title
- Claim Google authorship, as appropriate"
Click for the explanations and details.

Quote: "Never copy and paste the original author’s headline. Instead, write your own headline so that you’re not competing with the original author in search results. Retitling also gives you the chance to play up certain aspects of the piece that the author may have downplayed, as well as to incorporate words or phrases that will resonate more strongly with your particular audience."

I have been hesitant to change titles too much, feeling like this was part of the original authorship. I just add a prominent keyword relative to my index. I will feel freer now to change title copy.
